Looking for a Mascoteer alternative?

Mascoteer shuts down on November 30, 2026, and new subscriptions have already stopped. Here's what to save first, how to bring your mascot across, and when Lumorig isn't the right replacement.

We make Lumorig. We aren't connected to Mascoteer; its facts link to its own pages.

Before November 30

Save your work first.

Do this whichever tool you choose next. The pages we read don't say what happens to your files after the shutdown.

Step 1

Download every animation you use

Mascoteer lists MP4, WebP, GIF and sprite sheet exports. Take the format your product already uses, plus one with a transparent background if you might need it later.

Step 2

Save the mascot itself

Keep the best image you can get of the character on its own. That's what you'd upload to any tool you move to, including ours.

Step 3

Keep your descriptions

Copy the words you used for the character and its animations. They're the quickest way to get close to the same motion elsewhere.

Moving your mascot

Two ways to bring it across.

Both demos below are real. The clip was made from an uploaded picture, and the slider compares actual uploads with their rebuilds.

Keep your exact art

Upload the picture and get motion clips of that same drawing on a transparent background. It's the closest match to what you had. Clips are video, so they can't be recoloured or scaled without loss.

Pico the alpaca, uploaded as a picture, hopping in a clip with a transparent backgroundpico.png · uploadedclip · your exact art

Rebuild it as a rigged vector

We redraw the character as vector parts with joints, so every preset motion plays on it and it exports as vector Lottie. It's close rather than identical, so drag the slider to compare.

Instant motion

Fifteen moves, ready before you've paid a cent.

Presets are fitted to your character's rig, so they play instantly and cost nothing. Need something specific? Ask for it in plain words.

Quick answer

Pick by what you're making.

Choose Lumorig if…

  • the mascot lives in your website, app, chatbot or AI agent;
  • you want to keep your exact art as clips on a transparent background;
  • you want small vector files, like Lottie and SVG, that stay sharp at any size;
  • your coding agent should create and embed the mascot over MCP.

Look elsewhere if…

  • you're making a 2D game and need run cycles and a full set of game moves;
  • you rely on engine-specific import guides or plugins;

FAQ

Mascoteer shutdown questions.

When does Mascoteer shut down?

Its site says it is shutting down on November 30, 2026. New subscriptions and credit purchases have stopped, existing users can keep using it until then, and existing subscribers won't be charged again. The pages we read don't say what happens to your files afterwards, so download what you need before that date.

Can I bring my Mascoteer mascot to Lumorig?

Yes, if you have the rights to it. Upload the image, then choose: motion clips that keep your exact art (60 credits each), or a rebuild as a rigged vector (150 credits). A rebuild is our redraw of your character, so it's close but not pixel-identical, and we show it side by side with your original.

Does Lumorig export sprite sheets for Unity or Godot?

Yes, on Maker and Studio. A clip exports as a PNG sheet with a JSON atlas in a zip. A vector character exports as one PNG on a grid, which you slice in the engine. There's no plugin or engine-specific guide. On Free, downloads are watermarked previews up to 512 px.

Is Lumorig a good fit for a 2D game?

Often not. Lumorig is built for mascots in products: websites, apps, chatbots and AI agents. It has a walk in place for characters with legs, but no run preset and no game-specific tooling, so if your main need is a full set of game moves, a dedicated sprite tool will likely serve you better.

Is Lumorig connected to Mascoteer?

No. We're a separate company, and we have no access to your Mascoteer account or files, so nothing moves over automatically.
